lighthouse in winter

Grandhaven Michigan.

In the summertime it is hard to get a picture of this walkway without a bunch of people in the frame. No such problem this time of year.

Ice Fisherman at Dusk

Today it was 5 degrees F. That's cold.

It reminded me of this picture from last year. I was in a State Park trying to get some picture... any picture. I'd given up and was on the way back to the car. The sun was setting and the sky was beautiful... but everyone has lots of pictures of the sun setting.

This fiherman was leaving the lake and I took his picture. I hope you like it.

Christmas Decoration at Church

We attend a nice, small church. A couple Sunday or two ago we had Advent. There was the "hanging of the greens" and a great many decorations went up as we sang Christmas Carols. This little cut out shows one of our pretty stained glass windows in the background.

Blacksmith making fire

Earlier this year at Stone's Trace. The folks dressed up in their primitive clothes and camped out in tents and tee-pees as did our ancestors.

The day we were there no "tourists" were around. All the folks were "in costume" or whatever term they use. I went into the blacksmith's shop and watch him make fire with a flint, a stone, blackcloth and some other material that is intended to catch the spark and make a flame.

This picture is of the blacksmith holding the spark in this "blackcloth" and kindling to make a flame.

Stone's Trace

This fall the people who dress up in period costumes returned to Stone's Trace. They camped and let us wander among them. Included in the nostalgic look of yesterday was the Northern and Southern armies from the Civil War. This year the Confederates were more photogenic.
