Robin in winter

Robins usually fly South, so it is unusual to see them around her this time of year.

Amish Buggy

This picture of an Amish Buggy was taken just outside our house. It was taken accross the bean field. You can see the corn field... or what used to be the corn field on the other side.

More and more, I am converting winter buggy scenes to black and white, because the caution sign on the rear just is too prominent otherwise.

Water Strider

Water Bug, is what I've always called these little animals. They are hard to take pcitures of.

Obviously this picture was not taken recently as the water is - and will be for some time - frozen around here.

Frosty Day

Last week we had a day of freezing fog. It coated all the trees with frost. The trees with the most limbs had the most frost.

Cute bird

I asked the naturalist of the house what kind of bird this is and she didn't know. She said he was "ordinary", but I think he's cute.

Small Raccoon

This picture was taken over a year ago in Ox Bow Park (Elkhart County, Indiana). This little guy ran up a tree and on the "other side" to get away from me. After waiting to see what he was going to do, I walked up to the tree and there he was looking at me... kinda sad.

He only had the little stub of a tail.

From cold amish horses to frogs in the pond.

I really like this picture. Apparently it was never posted here... and now it is.

Are you ready for summer when the frogs are ballanced on the grass in the pond?

Cold Amish Horse, frosty morning

Sometimes, when it is really cold, we get this fog. It hangs above the ground. You can sometimes see the amish horses and buggys, the fog above them and then the clear blue sky. The picture above was taken on one of those mornings. You can see the buggy clearing a fog bank and the sun shinning in from the side.

I'm ready for Spring and so are the Amish horses.

"Junco" is a strange name for a bird, don't you think. They are black and gray and white... contrasting colors. One of the birds that sticks around for the winter.

This birds are likely tiny... but they get cubby with all those feathers to keep warm. It was REALLY cold the day this picture was taken. You can see ice on the tree... it was cold.

Horses running on canyon floor, 1 & 2

The first picture is new to this blog. The second one appeared here previously. They were taken at the same time. We were on a canyon wall at Canyon de Chelly with the intentions of taking picutres of indian ruins when these horses began to run on the floor of the canyon.

On the canyon floor were summer homes and farms. The crops and the fruit trees had fences around them and the horses ran free.

Interesting to see these two pictures, "side by side".
