Hello and Welcome

Hello and welcome to one of our little corners of the world.

We found that trying to keep up multiple web sites is difficult. So we have consolidated our efforts to...

david-arment.pixles.com

and

armentphoto.com

You can find our (Pam and my) pictures at both of these sites.

If you have any questions please email them to: hurrymailtodave@gmail.com

Warmest Regards,

Kings Canyon Abandon Gas Station.

Kings Canyon National park has a road that winds back into the park. Along the road is an old lodge that has burned and is gone. I have no idea why you would build this little shelter over old gas pumps. I'm not sure the shelter is big enough to cover them. It is an odd scene to behold.

Montezuma's Castle is near Sedona Arizona. Montezuma had nothing to do with this castle. Ancient American people built the structure, which is along a very nice creek, Beaver Creek in the Verde Valley.

Desert Telegraph

The desert telegraph was set up in Pipe Springs UT, which is now a National Monument. It ran to St George, Utah. Pipe Springs was a spring in the desert and the Mormons built a fort over the springs. They expected that once the native people figured out they had no more water that an attack would ensue. None came. They raised milk cows and sent dairy products to St George where a large cathedral was being built.

Pipe Springs was largely populated by women. A man would put an extra wife or two and the kids there as the government cracked down on polygamy.

Gnarled

Gnarled tree hangs on to the edge at Bryce Canyon National Park. The famous hoodoos are in the background.

Sleepy buffalo

I think he is posing for the nickel. And he is really tired and almost asleep.

This is a black bear (really).

We were told that there were only black bears in Yosemite National Park, but that some the black bears are not black. So this is (apparently) a black bear that isn't black.

We saw "brown bear" in Alaska, and we were told that all brown bear were / are Grizzlys.

So this is not a grizzly because he is black and not brown or some other color so he isn't a grizzly.

Like the grizzlies we saw this one liked to graze, he loved his grass.

On Line Drying

Amish ladies have a schedule and they work by it. They do laundry twice a week and hang it on the line. Sometimes the weather cooperates, sometimes it does not.
